Small Business Web Development Services

Have A Web Presence, Not Just A Web Site.

In the 21st century a business without a Web Presence is like a store without a window.

There are many things to consider when building a Web Presence for a business. Looks are only one of pieces.

There are many reasons to have a web presence.

1. Most of your competitors are probably already on the Web attracting the people who could be your customers! That could be frustrating, because you know that your products and services are superior to those of your competitors! Small business web development services can help you reach those customer that are looking for a solution to their problems.

2. Your customers and potential customers are already searching the Web - for the very services you offer. Even as you read this there will be someone on the Web looking for a business like yours. SEO web site development will put you into the right position to be found by those potential customers.

More and more people are using the Internet to purchase products and as a means of gathering initial information about products and services. The attraction to this medium is that the customer is relaxed because he can read and research the information at his own pace and without any “hovering salesmen”.

It is quite feasible that the surfer will visit a number of sites before he/she decides on their final choice of product. You need to be certain that you are one of the sites that he/she has visited if you are to stand a chance of gaining their business. If you have no web site, you have no chance. Small business web development services will put you in the best possible position to be the site to capture the attention of those surfers.

3. Your web site presence will promote your business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even when you’re sleeping your web site can be working for you.

Yes …… but I use the yellow pages. The yellow Pages is generally only available on a local basis; not to mention the fact that unless you can afford a very large advertisement (more then the annual cost of a web site) the information you can present is very limited. Surveys show that the trend today is away from the yellow pages and on to the internet.

Your web site can be viewed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. If you are selling your products internationally then this is a major advantage as visitors from all over the world can, for example, view your wares while you are asleep! An email enquiry will be waiting for you when you get up in the morning!

But even if your business is restricted to the U.S., you will be amazed at how many people research for products and services at the weekend and in the evening. They are busy business people and very often this is the best time for them to concentrate on researching for a new product or service.

Research shows that over 70% of the people interviewed use the internet rather then the yellow pages to find a new business, or to research a business/product before making a purchase.

4. Your customers can buy your products and pay for them while sitting at their computers. It is estimated that it costs 8 times more to sell a product from a shop than from the Internet. It also saves your customer gas.

Selling online has to be one of the most cost efficient means of doing business. Night or day, you can do business with a customer in any part of the world, and his payment is made directly into your bank account -without you even knowing! All you need to do is to print off and process the orders. Of course if you have a product that can be sent via the Internet (such as software, documents, written material) you don’t even need to do this.

5. Your web site gives you more advertisement for less money.

You can have pages and pages of information about your company and your products or services - in much more detail than you’d ever be able to pay for in more traditional media.

Better Animations For Your Movies With Computer Animation Software

With all of the technological advances in computers, or more specifically in computer animations and graphics, it can be difficult to decide what type of computer animation software is best for you. Naturally, a great deal depends on whether you plan on using it for personal or business reasons. Are you interested in something like cartoon animations or do you want to create animations for something specific?

3d computer animation
Animation has come a long way from Walt Disney’s Steamboat Willie cartoon animations in the 1920’s. Just take a look at films, such as Toy Story and Jurassic Park; even television shows like Babylon 5, where classic animation has jumped to new animations at warp speed by using one major tool - the computer.

The computer can speed up both the creative process of animating characters as well as the time it takes to get a film or TV show to the screen. Even Julie Andrews came out with the quote “Movie animation has come a long way since we frolicked with cartoon penguins, sheep and carousel ponies in Mary Poppins” when she was doing voice work on Shrek 2.

graphics animations
Computer animation has been compared to a healthy marriage between art and science and that seems to fit it perfectly. Computer animation software will help teach the skills necessary to create successful animations on the computer. As a computer is just a tool and needs a skilled individual to run it, the artist needs proven solutions and programs in order to create those skilled images, so the software is an essential tool as well.

One of the largest and fastest growing areas within the computer graphics and animation field is in the area of computer games. Computer pictures animations programs and software are constantly being improved to keep up with the animations and graphics that are becoming more complex, even as the technology in the hardware simplifies.

Also, since computers have become almost as common as blackboards, crayons and pencils in classrooms, including preschools and kindergartens, various creators of software applications have designed numerous programs for young children.

movie animations
They can learn to create images animations, as well as several other skills specifically designed for their level. Many of the features of educational computer programs, such as interactivity, are completely in-line with educational principals, which is a huge advantage for everyone.

You may not be aware of it but schools, even at the preschool level, have computer animation programs in use. If you want to give your child a head start, then you may want to consider checking out some computer animation programs that are intended for children. It teaches them the basics that they will need through fun games, vocabulary sections and animated tutorials.

Increase Interest To Your Website With Design Computer Animation

One of the key processes of the Macromedia/Adobe Flash software is “tweening,” which makes changes to the shape or position of an object. The actual definition of Flash is streaming animation for web pages. This streaming animation can be used on an entire web page or you may choose to use it as only part of an html page. The desired result is the appearance of the first object evolving smoothly into the last object.

What goes hand in hand with Flash animation? It would have to be Flash text. Flash text is exactly what it sounds like. On your website you can turn plain text into text that moves and is full of colors and life. Many individuals have recently added Flash text to the rest of their “cool animations” on their pages and they claim the return traffic on their websites has risen. Flash is the industry standard software to create 2D animations.

Ok, you have finally got your website up or at least somewhat up, what’s next? Modern technology has improved on so many different levels and animation, or more specifically computer animation, is one of those leading resources. You need every possible edge when trying to catch and keep internet traffic focused on your site. Whether Flash text, art animations or 3d computer animations, it is not as important as the final product. Making your site stand out in the crowd is a tall order and that is where computer animations and art animations have a chance to shine.

graphics animations
At one time, networking was basically limited to who we could call or meet face to face. Beyond that was of course word of mouth, paid print and media advertising. Even then it was likely restricted to the local market, as the expense of getting a message to the next town, state or country was high.

What could you do? With the internet anything is possible, so you want your site to stand out with graphics images animations, gif animations, Flash 2D animations and even 3D animations. Fortunately, the internet makes your business globally accessible, so you can reach out and touch millions of online viewers. These days, you can rake in dollars, yens, euros, pounds, rubles, pesos etc. because the world is the playing field.

computer animations
Having a website allows you to reach a broader audience. You may be set up in Idaho, but your site with its Flash animations can reach someone in Singapore within a matter of seconds.

Your optimized website gives you the freedom of showing off all of your work, not just the samples that fit into your portfolio or the ones that are short enough to present within the time frame you are given. There are computer animation programs that allow you to create animations at every level of expertise.

Automatic cPanel backup (domain & MySQL) with cron & PHP

Justin-Cook.com has an awesome solution for those mind numbing hours of backing up your CPanel Hosted site.

The situation is this: I use cPanel on my web hosting server. I use the cPanel backup tool to regularly backup my home directory (includes my web files, mail, etc), and my MySQL databases. I love the fact that you can use it to backup to a remote FTP server, and I do that on a fairly regular basis.

The major drawback is that you have to remember/schedule to perform this backup manually. This becomes especially difficult if you have multiple cPanel accounts. It would be amazing if you could just schedule the cPanel backup to run at regular intervals, perhaps with cron. Well, although there’s no option for that in cPanel, the script below will allow you to do exactly that

U.S. States Lead the World in High Corporate Taxes

Fiscal Fact No. 119

America’s political leadership is finally waking up to the fact that the tax rates businesses face in the U.S. are way out of step with our major economic competitors. Last year, for example, Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel proposed cutting the federal corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 30.5 percent. While a 5 percentage point cut in the federal corporate tax rate may sound significant, it may not be sufficient to meaningfully improve the competitiveness of the United States.

Currently, the average combined federal and state corporate tax rate in the U.S. is 39.3 percent, second among OECD countries to Japan’s combined rate of 39.5 percent.1 Lowering the federal rate to 30.5 percent would only lower the U.S.’s ranking to fifth highest among industrialized countries.

What are the “statuses” for a domain name?

Domains and associated domain status codes exist in a one-to-many relationship. That is, a domain name may have more than one associated status at any given time. The VeriSign Registry can change the status of all registered domain names, while Registrars can only change the status of domain names that they have registered. As of June 25, 2005 the VeriSign Registry provides the following EPP status codes:

  • OK
  • ClientHold
  • ClientUpdateProhibited
  • ClientDeleteProhibited
  • ClientTransferProhibited
  • ClientRenewProhibited
  • ServerHold
  • ServerUpdateProhibited
  • ServerDeleteProhibited
  • ServerTransferProhibited
  • ServerRenewProhibited
  • RedemptionPeriod
  • PendingRestore
  • PendingDelete

A domain name’s default status is OK. OK domain names have no defined update restrictions and will appear in the appropriate zone file if name servers are associated with the domain. If a domain is OK, there will be no other status codes associated with the domain name.

A domain name can have more than one associated status if the status is not OK. A Registrar can place a domain name on ClientHold, ClientUpdateProhibited, ClientDeleteProhibited, ClientTransferProhibited and ClientRenewProhibited statuses. The VeriSign Registry can place a domain name on ServerHold, ServerUpdateProhibited, ServerDeleteProhibited, ServerTransferProhibited, and ServerRenewProhibited statuses.Note that the Registrar and VeriSign Registry statuses are not mutually exclusive, so a domain name can be in any combination of VeriSign Registry and Registrar statuses if it is not OK. When a Registrar sets a domain name to client status(es), or if the VeriSign Registry sets a domain name to server status(es), the Shared Registration System automatically removes the OK status. The Shared Registration System automatically returns the domain name status to OK when all of the Client and Server statuses have been removed. VeriSign logs all status changes to provide a record of status change activity. Each status is explained below.

OK.This is the default status of a domain name at registration time. The Shared Registration System sets the domain name to this status. A domain name in this status can be modified by the Registrar and will appear in the appropriate zone file if there are name servers associated with the domain name.

ClientHold. The Registrar of the domain name sets the domain name to this status. Domain names placed under ClientHold are NOT included in the zone files. Domains under ClientHold status can be updated, deleted, transferred, and Renewed.

ClientUpdateProhibited. The Registrar of the domain name sets the domain name to this status. If a domain is under ClientUpdateProhibited status, a Registrar cannot modify the name servers linked to the domain name, the auth info code cannot be updated, the domain cannot be synced, and the Registrar cannot modify the status of the domain without first removing ClientUpdateProhibited. When a domain is on ClientUpdateProhibited it is included in the zone files, it can be transferred, deleted, and can also be renewed.

ClientTransferProhibited.  The Registrar of the domain name sets the domain name to this status.  If a domain is under ClientTransferProhibited status, the domain name cannot be transferred from one Registrar to another. When a domain name is on ClientTransferProhibited status it can be updated, deleted, renewed, and is included in the zone.

ClientDeleteProhibited. The Registrar of the domain name sets the domain name to this status.  If a domain is under ClientDeleteProhbited, the domain name cannot be deleted.  When a domain name is on ClientDeleteProhibited status it can be updated, transferred, renewed, and is included in the zone.

ClientRenewProhibited. The Registrar of the domain sets the domain name to this status. If a domain is under ClientRenewProhibited status, the domain name cannot be explicitly renewed.  When a domain name is on ClientRenewProhibited status it can be updated, transferred, deleted, and is included in the zone.

ServerHold. The VeriSign Registry sets the domain name to this status. When the domain name is in this status is not included in the zone file.

ServerUpdateProhibited. The VeriSign Registry sets the domain to this status. If a domain is under ServerUpdateProhibited status,  the name servers linked to the domain name cannot be updated, the auth info code cannot be updated, the domain cannot be synched, and the Registry/Registrar cannot modify the status of the domain without first removing ServerUpdateProhibited. When a domain is on ServerUpdateProhibited it is included in the zone files. Domains under ServerHold status can be updated, deleted, transferred, and Renewed.

ServerTransferProhibited.  The VeriSign Registry sets the domain to this status. If a domain is under ServerTransferProhibited status, the domain name cannot be transferred from one Registrar to another. When a domain name is on ServerTransferProhibited status it can be updated, deleted, renewed, and is included in the zone.

ServerDeleteProhibited. The VeriSign Registry sets the domain name to this status.  If a domain is under ServerDeleteProhbited, the domain name cannot be deleted. When a domain name is on ClientDeleteProhibited status it can be updated, transferred, renewed, and is included in the zone.

ServerRenewProhibited.  The VeriSign Registry sets the domain name to this status. If a domain is under ServerRenewProhibited status, the domain name cannot be explicitly renewed.  When a domain name is on ServerRenewProhibited status it can be updated, transferred, deleted, and is included in the zone

RedemptionPeriod. The Shared Registration System sets the domain name to this status if the domain name is deleted after the 5 day Create Grace Period. The domain name will remain in this status for 30 calendar days unless the Restore command is issued by the current Registrar. All EPP commands other than Restore will fail if the domain is in this status. Domains in this status will not be published to the zone file.

PendingRestore. The Shared Registration System sets the domain name to this status if a Restore command has been issued on a domain name in RedemptionPeriod Status. The PendingRestore period lasts 7 calendar days. During this 7 calendar day window, the Registrar must submit a Restore Report to the VeriSign Registry through the Registrar Tool or via the EPP Protocol. If VeriSign Registry receives the Restore Report during the 7 day PendingRestore Period, the domain name will be placed in Active status immediately. If the Restore Report is not submitted within the 7 day PendingRestore Period, the domain is placed back on RedemptionPeriod status and the 30 day RedemptionPeriod is reset and starts from Day 0. Domains in this status are published to the zone file.

PendingDelete. The Shared Registration System sets the domain name to this status if the domain name remains in Redemption Period status for the full 30 calendar day period. The PendingDelete status lasts 5 days and domains in this status will not be published to the zone file. Once a domain name enters the PendingDelete Period it cannot be Restored.

Making Movies And Websites Come Alive With Computer Animation

You have no doubt heard the term “animation” and the technical definition is the filming of a sequence of positions or drawings to create an illusion of motion. With the advent of computers, animation evolved from hand drawings to perhaps the most recognized forms of computer 2D animations, 3D computer animation and computer animations.

However, in our modern computer world, the two major categories are 2D and 3D computer animation, which until fairly recently, was a trade that normally only involved the entertainment industry.

computer animation
The most familiar form of 2D animations can be found by watching Saturday morning cartoons with your kids, or even simpler animations every day when you surf the web. It takes on the forms of advertisements, e-cards, etc.

The basic starting point for all animations is a storyboard that lays out the basic script in a visual format, much like an extra large comic strip. From that point a rough audio track of the script is created to give animators something to sync with their drawings.

This form of animation uses “vector graphics,” meaning that the images are based upon mathematical equations, rather than by an array of pixels, such as in “raster graphics.”

graphics animations
Due to its flexibility, 3D is what most people think of when referring to computer animation, even in general terms. Although similar in some ways to 2D animations, 3d computer animation is a different process. For example, to create animations in 3D, a scene is made long before any animation starts.

What many people do not realize is that the entertainment industry and specifically motion picture applications, while possibly being the forerunners in advancing technologies, only account for a fraction of the 3D animations market.

Actually, there is very little difference between computer animation and what is called traditional animation. The main difference is the tools that are used to create animations, the effort and the price.

images animations
Traditional 3D animation was more like claymations, and was done by using stop-motion filming techniques. Essentially, the true concept of 3D animations did not really catch on until the use of computers for animation became more cost effective and practical.

Although the entertainment industry is largely responsible for the advances in 3D computer animation, they make up only a small part of the market that uses 3D animations. Animation designs sell products; it is also used as a teaching aide with flash animations because it presents information in a more understandable way. Many animations can be created completely on a computer, but depending on the type of animation desired, such as cartoon animations, there may be the need for some hand-penciling work to be done.
